Deed Review 2026
The GIA Deed requires a formal review by all Partners at least every five years. The current review period falls due on 30 June 2027. To meet this requirement, GIA Partners have begun a review process that will run through 2026, with any agreed amendments to the Deed to be finalised and adopted ahead of 1 July 2027.
This review provides an opportunity for Partners to reflect on the first decade of GIA’s operation and consider how the agreement is working in practice. The aim is to identify any improvements that could strengthen the partnership and support more effective biosecurity readiness and response in the future. At this stage, Partners are taking a broad look at potential options and areas where changes might be considered.
GIA Partners will have received briefings on the review process, along with an individual link to the consultation materials. If you are a Partner, you can access the current options for change here (members only).
Feedback from the wider stakeholder community will be sought once Partners have narrowed down the areas they wish to explore in more detail. In the meantime, if you have comments or suggestions you would like to share, please contact the Secretariat at giasecretariat@gia.org.nz.
