GIA partners support Biosecurity 2025 initiative

Government Industry Agreement (GIA) partners have commended Government on the Biosecurity 2025 discussion document released earlier this week seeking input from all New Zealanders on the future of our biosecurity strategy.

The GIA Deed Governance Group (DGG) welcome the review of the strategy and are looking forward to being involved in its development. This is an important opportunity for all participants in New Zealand’s biosecurity system, particularly GIA Signatories, to influence New Zealand’s biosecurity strategy and to reinforce the collective strength of the GIA partnership.

The Biosecurity 2025 project was launched by the Ministry for Primary Industries in April 2015 to review and future-proof New Zealand's biosecurity system. GIA partners were involved in the development of the discussion document and will again look to make a collective contribution on behalf of GIA partners. The result of this consultation will be a Biosecurity 2025 Direction Statement, setting a future direction for New Zealand’s biosecurity system.

DGG fully supports the process and looks forward to working with Government to help shape the strategy. We strongly encourage all interested parties to have their say on this important initiative that significantly affects New Zealand’s primary industries, and in turn, New Zealand’s economy. You may do this directly through MPI’s website.
